Sim Video LA at Cine Gear 2009

Los Angeles, California USA - June 8, 2009

Cine Gear Expo has proved to be one of Hollywood’s “must attend” events.  In 2009, the expo experienced the largest industry crowd in its 13 year history benchmarking this as its most successful year to date.

Held on the New York Backlot of Paramount Pictures Studio, Sim Video Los Angeles exhibited some of the industry’s most coveted digital acquisition tools today. With a fully tricked out RED ONE camera system with custom SIModified accessories and a Sony F35 on display, visitors all stopped to point out the whopping Angenieux Optimo lens featured on the little RED camera body and the compact Rouge lens on the robust F35 body. Sim LA representatives, including VP of Marketing, Cliff Hsui, were all on-hand and ready to promote the working advantages of both systems.

Hsui is well respected and known within the Hollywood camera community, having developed and led multiple RED Training Seminars for IATSE Local 600, as well as the American Society of Cinematographers. “With technology advancing at such a rapid pace,” said Hsui, “events like Cine Gear are a great way to showcase our state-of-the-art camera rentals and spend quality face time with clients and other industry pros who may not have attended one of our training events. There are always lots of questions and we’re happy to share our knowledge and technical solutions with the local production community.”

As always, the event delivered the professional crowd that has made it what it is today.  The Sim Video Los Angeles team was able to spend time with notable industry pros such as Garrett Brown, inventor of the Steadicam and Phil Squyres, VP of Technology at Sony Pictures. A long list of local DPs also stopped by including:  ASC members Rodney Charters, John Simmons, Michael Negrin, Jonathan Brown, Nancy Schreiber, David Mullen, George Spiro Dibie, and Richard Crudo as well as, CSC DPs: John Holosko and Paul Sommers

On the foothills of success, Cine Gear has already announced its plans for 2010 reserving June 3rd – 6th as the dates for its upcoming Expo.  For more information about Cine Gear, visit
